Feb 11, 2019 On Set With Our Food Stylist And Celebrity Chef Ken Hom!
Yes that’s right! Our in house food stylist and photographer were lucky enough to do a photography shoot with the one and only Ken Hom last spring to promote his new line of woks.
Ken Hom is a legend in the culinary world and is incredibly passionate about his products. We were honoured to be asked to photograph Ken and his new woks and were very eager to make the entire experience a smooth one for him and Kim, our lovely client.
Ken’s time is very precious, so we were keen to make sure that everything went accordingly on the day. With months of planning and preparation, we were well equipped when the big day came. As it was a location shoot in Surrey, we hired a van the day before and loaded all the equipment we needed for a product photography shoot on the road.
We over packed the van to avoid any obstacles on the day. From extra cameras, lights and batteries, to laptops, hard-drives and even our 27” iMac screen! We had everything we needed, as we like to be well prepared here at Uniquecapture Studio. We even turned up an hour early for fear of traffic and ended up having a leisurely coffee around the corner!
Once we arrived on set, we received a warm welcome and a lovely breakfast from Kim. The entire team got the whole set ready for when Ken arrived, so he could just come in and do what he does best. Everything was ready to go and Ken arrived in the most calm and friendly manner. Ken is exactly how he seems on TV, friendly, approachable and very funny! He was completely relaxed about the shoot, and was happy to pose for the camera! We got some fantastic shots of him with his new wok range.
We also had our in-house food stylist on set that day too. As well as shooting product photography, our job was to also food style and photograph some food photography to go on the packaging of Ken’s new woks. We also had the pleasure of tasting Ken’s food afterwards, it would be rude not to!
All in all it was a very successful day. There were smiles all around and we got more than we bargained for with Ken. Our clients were very happy with the way the entire shoot went and the images turned out great. We are eagerly waiting to see the new packaging hit the shelves. Keep an eye out for it!
